Episode 1: What’s Driving Health in NC?

In this first episode of the North Carolina Health Policy Forum from the North Carolina Medical Journal, host Kaitlin Ugolik Phillips interviews Dr. Elizabeth (Betsey) Cuervo Tilson, State Health Director and the Chief Medical Officer for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, about Healthy North Carolina 2030, a project to improve 21 health indicators in our state. Then, Phillips speaks with Victor Armstrong, former Chief Health Equity Officer at NCDHHS and current Chief Diversity Officer at RI International, about what health equity is - and isn't - and how policy can make health more equitable. In the final segment, hear from Kathy Colville, president and CEO of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine, about policy work happening in these areas.
